Sen. Charles Schumer recently visited the Buffalo Niagara International Airport to urge U.S. Customs and Border Protection to open a Nexus enrollment center at the Airport, where Americans and Canadians can easily access it. Currently, the nearest Nexus center on the U.S. side of the border is at the Whirlpool Bridge. The Canadian side has one in Fort Erie.

Nexus cards increase the speed of security screening for people traveling between the U.S. and Canada. As the Buffalo Airport serves as a nexus point for travelers, it is a highly convenient location for a Nexus processing center. Approximately 1,063,000 Canadians have come and gone from the Airport over the past 12 months. That is about 43 percent of passengers who start their travels here.
