New Funds for Metro

The NFTA Metro Bus and Rail system is very excited by the announcement of a $2,500,000 grant from the Federal Transit Administration’s Low or No Emission Program. The funding will allow the NFTA to upgrade Metro’s Cold Spring Bus Maintenance Facility with the infrastructure needed to charge electric buses in anticipation of introducing them into the fleet.

The grant is made possible thanks to the work of Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and Representatives Chris Collins and Brian Higgins. This project will help improved air quality for everyone in this region, but the riding public gets an extra benefit. New buses are nicer, more comfortable and more reliable.
