Under the Radar

The first responders at the NFTA do such an amazing job keeping the traveling public safe that it sometimes goes unnoticed. At the Authority's October Board Meeting, Executive Director Kim Minkel took a moment to remind the community that not every life-saving act makes it to the news. She recognized members of the Transit Police Department and the Buffalo Airport Rescue and Firefighting Team for rushing to the aid of a passenger at the Buffalo Airport, on October 16, who had gone into cardiac arrest.

Transit police were first on the scene and immediately began CPR. The ARFF team arrived moments later and assisted with resuscitation. Due to the quick and effective measures by everyone involved, the individual became responsive and made it safely to the hospital.
