The Art Project Project

The NFTA is continuing to look for student artists who created the ceramic tiles from the Metropolitan Transportation Center’s 1986 tile project. The majority would have been in 4th or 5th grade at the time. A special website at nfta.com has been created to help people identify their work.

The tiles are beautiful. The art installation would have remained for another 30 years if the building itself was not in need of improvements. The deinstallation has been painstakingly careful, saving almost every piece.

To claim a tile, e-mail tile@nfta.com, include the number and name on the tile – which is available from the website - as well as a description. Tiles can be picked up at the MTC (the bus station at 181 Ellicott St.) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
