Metro Bus and Rail opened its new training center in Cheektowaga this past month. The new learning environment is dedicated to transit operator training, and re-training, utilizing fresh technology, and dedicated areas free of distractions. Located at 247 Cayuga, near the Buffalo Airport, the facility takes advantage of property already under the NFTA umbrella. In addition to operator instruction, the center will host customer relationship courses and operator review courses.
The Training Center’s relevance has grown in the last few months. The large footprint of the new center allows for socially distant instruction. Which is great, because Metro is hiring. Metro has open positions for operators, as well as mechanics and technicians. New operator classes have already begun at the center and Metro hopes to keep those classes filled for the foreseeable future.
