Check in at the Airport

The $80 million Buffalo Niagara International Airport upgrade is moving right along. The BufUp project includes new entrances and exits – making the airport even easier to use – along with security features, and a covered walkway for arriving passengers. The most recent addition is another baggage carousel. The belt carousels used in the airport since its opening in 1997 do not meet federal guidelines. The new system drops bags onto a rotating display that never disappears back into the sorting area. Once a bag is out it stays in full view, which is a safer and faster solution. The Buffalo Airport now has two new systems; by next year it will have four.

Construction continues, but the project is on-track for completion in early 2022.
