New NFTA Police Chief

Brian Patterson is the new chief of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Police Department, taking over for George Gast who has retired after thirteen years leading the force. Chief Patterson has a distinguished career in law enforcement, including his previous role as police chief, supervising downtown Buffalo and its business district.

“We are excited that the new chief will add his expertise, professionalism, and ability to lead the Transit Police department keeping the NFTA and the community we serve safe and secure” said NFTA Executive Director Kim Minkel.

Patterson is the fifth NFTA Police Chief. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York College at Buffalo. He also served on the staff at Medaille College in the Social Sciences Department, teaching Criminal Justice classes.
