Runway Rehab

Runway 5-23 at Buffalo Niagara International Airport will be under construction beginning Monday, May 8, and continuing into the fall. These renovations are part of ongoing, planned preventative maintenance program for the airport’s primary runway. It ensures the highest safety standards are upheld.

During construction, people in the region will notice planes using alternative flight paths more frequently and sound patterns will temporarily change.

All involved in the project have worked very hard to minimize any impact on travelers and residents in the surrounding community. Construction will take place during the day with occasional overnight work, during times in which there are very few or no scheduled flights.
